Course Description

Lift trucks are widely used thought industry for moving materials and goods, but they also feature prominently in worksite accidents. Every year there are about 8000 lift truck accidents resulting in injury, on average ten of them fatal. These injuries cause suffering for the people involved and their dependants, and often incur heavy costs for the employer’s business. Even an incident not causing injury may result in costly damage to lift trucks, buildings, fittings and the goods being handled. Employers have a duty under Health and Safety Law to ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of their employees.

The aim of this course is to deliver training to new operators in the principles of use of loading equipment and health and safety regulations.

This course is run to the RTITB guidelines, certificating at the end of the course with an RTITB Forklift certificate. This course covers subject area 1 of the Driver CPC and consequently gives a candidate 14 hours towards their CPC.
